Mommen Kunst House
Synopsis (English)
Mommen Kunst House is a five-episode web series created inside the historic Ateliers Mommen in Brussels, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the artists’ cité. Blending the codes of reality TV and documentary, the series becomes an ironic fiction that humorously exposes the tensions, fantasies, and absurdities behind artistic life at Mommen.
The narrative follows three young artists — Naya, Victor, and Guillemette — who compete to win one of several prestigious contemporary art prizes:
one year of free rent at the Mommen artists’ cité,
the €50,000 Public Prize,
or a trip to New York in the company of a wealthy collector.
A sharp, humorous, and affectionate look at the creative ecosystem behind the scenes — where ambition, community, rivalry, and performance freely intertwine.
